Our process commences with preparing previously bisqued pots in saggars of clay or aluminium foil or on its own in the fire.The pots are nestled together in a pit or barrel in the ground and are surrounded by combustible materials such as wood, shavings, dried manure, leaves, oxides and salts to affect the surface of the pots. The oxides and salts interact with the clay, air, and fire, giving birth to unforeseen shades and intricate patterns.
