Join us for a hands-on weekend exploring alternative firing techniques: Raku, Saggar, and Pit/Barrel firing. These ancient methods create stunning, unpredictable effects through the interaction of clay, fire, and treated combustibles.
You’ll start by preparing bisqued pots with aluminum foil saggars, then load them into a barrel or pit surrounded by materials like wood shavings, oxides, and salts to create unique surface patterns. The next day, we’ll clean, and reflect on our Pit firing, then delve into the magic of Raku.
